NILC Statement on Trump Expansion of Immigrant Detention at Guantanamo

WASHINGTON — Raha Wala, vice president of strategy and campaigns at the National Immigration Law Center, issued the following statement in response to President Trump’s announcement ordering the expansion of immigrant detention at Guantanamo Bay:

“Guantanamo is and always has been a legal black hole where abuse runs rampant. It’s a stain on our nation’s history and has no business being used for detaining migrants or anyone else. Rather than expanding operations at Guantanamo, we should be expeditiously shuttering it.”
