NILC Welcomes Melissa Guzman to Board of Directors

WASHINGTON – The National Immigration Law Center (NILC) today announced the addition of Melissa Guzman, chief operating officer for WeAreCASA, to the organization’s board of directors.

“We are grateful to Melissa Guzman for bringing her deep commitment, invaluable expertise, and decades of leadership in our collective fight to advance immigrant rights and protect our democracy to NILC’s board of directors,” said Kica Matos, NILC president.

“As the proud daughter of Puerto Rican and Honduran immigrants, I am honored to join NILC’s board,” said Melissa Guzman. “This work is deeply personal to me, and I am committed to advancing the rights and opportunities of immigrants and their families.”

Melissa is the chief operating officer for WeAreCASA, where she has spent more than a decade helping lead and strengthen mission-driven work advancing the rights and well-being of immigrant families and underserved communities. With an extensive background in finance and operations, her experience spans 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), and PAC organizations bringing deep expertise in financial management, organizational infrastructure, operational & strategic leadership, and movement-building. A proud daughter of immigrants, Melissa is deeply committed to creating equitable systems and ensuring families and communities are treated with humanity, dignity, and respect.
