NILC Statement on Trump’s Inauguration and Day-One Immigration Actions

WASHINGTON — Kica Matos, president of the National Immigration Law Center and the NILC Immigrant Justice Fund, issued the following statement in response to President Trump’s inauguration and plans for immigration-related executive actions:

“Donald Trump wasted no time in unleashing an assault on immigrant communities designed to inflict maximum cruelty and sow chaos across the country. Taken as a whole, Trump’s words and actions reveal the enormity of the danger we’re facing, which compels us all to mobilize to fight back. This is a fight not just to protect immigrants, but to also defend our democracy. NILC was unafraid to confront Trump during his first term and we will meet this moment with the courage and ferocity necessary to resist his destructive agenda.”
