NILC Statement on Dream Act Reintroduction
WASHINGTON — Kica Matos, president of the National Immigration Law Center, issued the following statement after the reintroduction of the bipartisan Dream Act in the U.S. Senate:
“As we witness immigrant young people caught up in the Trump administration’s mass detention and deportations campaign, the bipartisan Dream Act is a rare example of solutions-focused legislation with consensus support among Americans. It’s time for Congress to match that support with the level of urgency this moment requires. We thank Senator Durbin for his unwavering leadership over more than two decades and urge every member of Congress to pass the Dream Act now.”
