Adrian Escárate helps to develop and execute media and messaging strategies for NILC. He creates talking points, media briefs, and messaging frameworks as a part of the larger strategic communication plans that promote NILC’s voice and programmatic goals.
Adrian’s background as a former DACA recipient, immigrant rights activist, and communications professional allows him to be well-positioned to advance NILC’s campaigns, policy initiatives, litigation, and other programmatic work. His projects at NILC include media relations, pitching, messaging research, spokesperson development, and more.
Away from his desk, Adrian enjoys being active by playing tennis, soccer, running, and biking. He loves trying out new restaurants, indulging in delicious cuisines, and keeping up with the latest films and series on the big and small screen. He jumped into the immigrant rights movement as an activist in 2010 pushing for the DREAM Act while he was undocumented and attending St. Thomas University in Miami Gardens, Florida, where he received his BA in Communications Arts.
Lastly, Adrian played four years of college tennis at STU and worked as a professional tennis coach in South Florida for over a decade.
