National Immigration Law Center

June 15th marks the 10-year anniversary of the announcement of the DACA program, a transformational policy through which hundreds of thousands of immigrant youth pursued work and educational goals, better provided for themselves and their loved ones, and contributed more fully to their communities.

The impact of DACA is enormous and reaching the 10-year milestone is a testament to the power, organizing, and tenacity of immigrant youth who advocated for and defended DACA throughout the past decade. At the same time, because we have arrived at a decade of DACA with no permanent protection or pathway to citizenship for immigrant youth and their loved ones, the past 10 years have also meant chronic uncertainty and stress for DACA recipients. It is past time for Congress to act.

In the lead up to June 15th, and in support of our advocacy for a legislative solution, the National Immigration Law Center is inviting DACA recipients to share reflections on what this milestone means to them, how DACA has changed their lives, and what a pathway to citizenship would do in turn. We will amplify many stories and voices across social media during the week of the 10-year anniversary in celebration of immigrant youth and the past decade of DACA.
