TAKE ACTION: NILC has long been a leader in fighting alongside immigrant youth and communities to ensure that they can remain and thrive in this country. We helped to conceive, push for, and implement Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). With our courageous plaintiffs and legal partners, NILC successfully defeated the previous administration’s attempts to end DACA, taking our fight all the way to — and winning at — the Supreme Court.

But we need your help today to ensure that Congress votes to move the goalposts further and pass the Dream and Promise Act. This would provide a pathway to citizenship for 3.1 million undocumented immigrant youth and longtime residents who call the U.S. home.

This includes Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), Temporary Protected Status (TPS), and Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) recipients. The National Immigration Law Center urges the House of Representatives to pass the most inclusive version of this bill swiftly as a first step toward providing a pathway to citizenship for all 11 million undocumented people living in the U.S. 

While DACA, TPS, and DED recipients need relief now, this bill needs to be strengthened and not exclude immigrants who have been involved with the racialized and unjust criminal legal system, which disproportionately harms Black and Brown people.

Please urge the House of Representatives to lead courageously and remove these proposed exclusions and quickly vote for a fully inclusive bill that advances racial justice and transforms millions of immigrants’ lives for the better.
