Document Abuse and Citizenship Discrimination in Employment Eligibility Verification
The two resources available here were developed as part of a workers’ rights curriculum that NILC first published in the mid-1990s. Each consists of a brief story/example and an explanation of the kind of employment eligibility verification–related discrimination with which it deals.
The first, Document Abuse (PDF), is about when an employer won’t accept documents that are acceptable under the law to establish a worker’s identity and employment eligibility.
The second, Citizenship Discrimination (PDF), is about when an employer treats a worker differently from other workers because of their citizenship or immigration status.
