FACT SHEET:
New
State Option to Provide Health Coverage to Immigrant Children and
Pregnant Women.
The Children's Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act of 2009
provides states with a new opportunity to provide affordable health
coverage to many immigrant children and pregnant women through Medicaid
and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP).

79 percent of Americans support expanding SCHIP to cover lawfully
present immigrant children. Currently, such children and pregnant
