ALL CHILDREN, REGARDLESS OF STATUS, have the constitutional right to attend our nation’s public (K-12) schools. NILC believes that a quality education can provide low-income immigrants with a pathway out of poverty. NILC works to increase access to education and has fought to stop anti-immigrant laws that would chill access to school for immigrant families. In partnership with immigrant youth, NILC has been leading national efforts to promote the importance of the DREAM Act, which would provide young people who were brought to this country as children with the path to citizenship and access to higher education they need to be able to contribute fully to the only country they know.
