August Action
Congress members are home for August
recess; there is no better time to make your voice heard! Below
are suggestions of ways to keep your representatives engaged while they
are back in your state.
-
ATTEND
and PARTICIPATE in in-person or telephone town-hall meetings.
A
list is available of town-hall meetings that members of Congress
are holding or attending in August. These will mostly be on health
care reform, but they are worth attending to support immigrant
inclusion in health care reform, and also the DREAM Act. Bring your
friends and family and be vocal at these town hall meetings so
members of Congress can see who their constituents really are and
what they want.
Your
representative and senators need to hear from you!
Gains (as of August 12)
New
Cosponsors
-
Rep.
Melvin Watts (D-NC) will sign on as a cosponsor of the DREAM Act,
according to the Latin American Coalition.
-
Sen.
Michael Bennet (D-CO) has also committed to cosponsoring the DREAM
Act.
